Resiliency in the Wake of Natural Disaster

Disasters can be natural events such as flooding, earthquakes, or hurricanes that cause significant damage to a community or significant loss of life. Disasters are forms of trauma that can have a long-term impact on the mental health and well-being of those affected. In the learning session, Resiliency in the Wake of Natural Disaster, learners will learn how to enhance community resilience following a natural disaster. Learners will gain an understanding of the trauma linked to natural disasters, methods to mitigate the trauma, and approaches to building a resilient community. Learners will learn strategies to implement in their local communities to provide support, encourage growth, and restore a sense of normalcy following a natural disaster. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much (Helen Keller)
