Online counseling offers flexibility and convenience and has been proven to be an effective means of receiving therapy.
One of Leavitt Institute’s primary goals is to make counseling services more easily available to more people. Online counseling is a great way to do that. While it may not be for everyone, online counseling increases the availability as well as flexibility of getting a quality therapeutic experience. More and more research is already showing that online therapy can be just as effective as going to therapy in person. Going to therapy in person isn’t always convenient for many people. It is often difficult for those who live in rural areas, travel frequently, have children, or are homebound to see a counselor in person on a regular basis. Others simply feel ashamed or embarrassed. Whatever the reason, online therapy provides a convenient alternative that offers the same face-to-face counseling that you need and deserve. Leavitt Institute is currently working on developing our own user-friendly interface; however, for the time being we conduct face-to-face online sessions through the use of Skype. What is needed? All you need is a high-speed internet connection, webcam, microphone (many webcams/computers have them built in), and a free Skype account.
Interested in the convenience of online therapy but not computer savvy? No problem, we can also walk you through preparing for an online session. We also provide therapy by phone.
