Individual Counseling

We’re here to help.

Leavitt Institute provides individual counseling, and when possible we recommend that individual therapy is held in conjunction with group or couple counseling. In addition to focusing on the particular symptoms of an individual, it is important to explore the underlying relational and interactional patterns in their marriage and/or important relationships. The reasoning behind this is that these patterns might support the unwanted thoughts, feelings or behavior. For single adults, we recommend group therapy in conjunction with individual counseling, and for partners in a committed relationship we recommend couple counseling or group couple therapy in conjunction with individual therapy.

Our philosophy is that psychological symptoms emanate, in part, from disturbed or distressed interpersonal relationships, and a goal of therapy is to assist the client in developing distortion-free, gratifying relationships. Our relational approach to individual counseling has proven to be successful in dealing with most areas of concern, including the following issues.

  • Depression
  • Isolation, Loneliness and Hopelessness
  • Feelings of Inadequacy
  • Alcohol, Drug and Other Addictions
  • Social Phobia and General Anxiety
  • Sexual Disorders
  • Personality Issues
  • Sexual and Physical Abuse
  • Anger Management
